Session Format
Court Challenge
Players move up and down courts based on results, with winners progressing toward the top court.
- Games are organised around court movement rather than a fixed round robin draw.
- Winners move up one court and split, except on the top court where they stay and split.
- Losers move down one court and split.
- Court Challenge can run with four players per court and no sitouts, or with up to one extra player per court. For example, four courts can accommodate 16 to 20 players.
- Losers on the bottom court stay there and split, before any sitout rotation takes place.
- Each extra player is assigned to a court as its sitout, with no more than one sitout per court. After each round, players first move up or down courts as usual. The sitout then joins their assigned court, and one of the four players due to play on that court sits out the next round.
- Players manage this rotation themselves and share sitouts fairly. With 20 players on four courts, aim for everyone to sit out at least once before anyone takes another turn on the sideline.
- When there are fewer extra players, sitouts are generally assigned to the lower courts so the top courts can play without sitouts. For example, with 18 players on four courts, the two lower courts generally have one sitout each and the top two courts have none.
- Rally scoring to 15, win by 2, is recommended to keep turnover fast.
- Scores are not recorded in this format.
